Trip Overview

Hosmer lake is a special place. We like to think of it as an alpine bayou with some of the finest fly fishing in Central Oregon. Experts to beginners can have a blast here winding through the shallow canals in the marshland. Hosmer is Chance's favorite place to fish in the area due to its consistent fishing and quiet setting. There is nothing better than early morning fishing here, you can see thousands of fish cruising below you as you creep up the channels to your spot. You'll find fog rising off the water, silence broken by the occasional chirp of a morning redwing blackbird and colors from the aquatic species symbolic of a rainbow. The water clarity here holds year round with it shifting from a gin clear to more of a greenish clarity later in summer. The lake is fed by snowmelt year round and a spring fed creek which keeps water temperatures cool all season long. This lake will cater to anyone's desires and dreams. Even after fishing here hundreds of times we still like to visit on our days off.
